New England Emigrant Aid Company (NEEAC)


New England Emigrant Aid Company (NEEAC), Boston, Massachusetts, founded 1854.  (Formerly Massachusetts Emigrant Aid Society, founded 1854).  Founded by New England abolitionist to take immigrants to the Kansas Territory to prevent the territory from entering the Union as a slave state.  The NEEAC helped in the founding of Lawrence, Manhattan, and Osawatomie, Kansas.  The newspaper was the Lawrence Herald of Freedom.
